Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Foods served are high in nutrients and low in fat, sugar, and salt. We are a PORK free school. Students may also bring a complete lunch from home. Please do not send flavor pop or just snack food alone.
Health Requirements

Immunizations: Must be up-to-date.

Health Assessments: Must be on file with the prescribed medication.

Toileting: Students are expected to be self-sufficient unless noted in an IEP.

Food Allergies: Must be documented with the school nurse.
Illness or Sickness: Students should remain at home if they have a fever, upset stomach, constant cough, or are not feeling well. The school nurse will assess students who become ill during the school day.
Medication: Prescription and non-prescription medication must be delivered to the school by a parent or designated adult. Medication must be in the original container and labeled appropriately.
Discipline Procedures
Freda Markley provides social-emotional support to encourage self-regulation and problem-solving skills. Chronic disruptive behavior may result in a meeting with the Principal and Family School Liaison and potentially suspension for unsafe behavior.
Appropriate Clothing
Students should wear casual clothes appropriate for the weather. Tennis shoes or rubber-soled shoes are required. Students must have two sets of extra clothing (summer and winter) to keep at school.
Rest Time/Nap Time
Students rest/nap for 45 minutes daily. Parents must provide a small blanket. The blanket will be sent home every Friday to be washed and returned every Monday.
Holidays And Birthdays
We will have special celebrations throughout the school year. Parents should inform the teacher if they do not want their student to participate in a scheduled activity. For birthdays, parents can send one treat for the entire class, following the guidelines.
Parent Involvement Activities
Parents are essential to our program's success. We encourage you to participate in at least five activities or workshops throughout the school year. Please refer to the Title I Parental-Family Involvement Plan for scheduled events.
Linc Before and After School Program
LINC provides students with a high-quality, affordable before and after-school program. The program operates from 6:30 a.m. until school begins and from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. Contact LINC at 816-316-8520 for more information.
Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy
The Title I program is a federally funded program that provides academic support to schools with a high percentage of low-income families. Our school receives Title I funding, and we encourage all parents to participate in the planning and implementation of our Title I programs.
Special Education
Special Education services are available to all students who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). If you have concerns about your child's development, please contact the school to request an evaluation.
